I had a difficult time with the graphic descriptions of the cruelty and depravity with which the slaves, on whose backs the sugar empires were built, were treated. As a parent mentor and community liason for the school district, this book is inspirational and has some great suggestions for me to implement with our school district. I found myself laughing, smiling, and even crying as I read Lol's side of things. Garbage Bag Suitcase is well written and although it may have been cathartic for Shen to write, she does so with grace and elegance choosing to not only exposure the failures of our foster care system but to also offer solutions for other children and the agencies that serve them. I think that is true of many books, however, this bookseemed to have many more "familiar "recipes then most. I have read both of her books, loved them both. The case for putting a PC in your car is becoming increasingly compelling with the demands of the modern driver. The why's, when's, and where's that now make networks more understandable.
