All in all, it is a unique fusion of creative energy and science, engineering, and technology principles. For the junior high to high school student, it is an opportunity for them to really build on these concepts and see them in physical action. It aims to inspire both youth and adults of all ages to discover the exciting aspects of the sciences, as well as use their imagination and creativity. Today, there is a critical need for more scientists and engineers, and the initiative of the Cardboard Automaton Workshop and this curriculum is to provide science-, engineering-, and technology-related activities to excite students of all ages to pursue careers in these areas. Created in 2009 and presented to over 1,500 educators and students, this workshop is a great introduction to simple machines and their mechanics.
